Web 2.0

To my understanding, Web 2.0 is a term used for applications on the web that allow for interactive collaboration by users from all over the world. It uses the world wide web as its medium and numerous software and programs to help facilitate these interactions with people. For example, social networking sites is a very popular application where millions of users across the U.S. and other parts of the world use everyday!

There are tons of ways to stay connected with friends, family, and co-workers with different kinds of tools that are available on the web. A screen recorder called Voice Thread is one of those innovating ways to stay connected and share memories together. A Voice Thread is a multimedia slide show where pictures, videos, and documents can be displayed online. It is essentially a online album where people can comment on different frames. This service is where group conversations can happen from anywhere around the world and the kicker is, there is no software to install to use it!
When it comes to the classroom environment, students and teachers can use Voice Thread as a means to share school projects on and review them online. Students can use this program from home or at a friend's house and collaborate on a team project. Teachers can use this tool to post pictures of the class and share them to students' families, etc.

Basically, TinyURL is a web service that is dedicated to shortening long URLs by giving them short aliases instead of having tedious and annoying addresses. To you all that have had heard what a URL is, but don't know what that is exactly, no sweat! I was confused too, until I looked it up. A URL is also known as Uniform Resource Locator which is a Uniform Resource Identifier where information is stored and retrieved and is very accessible by a user on the web. This service was created by a web developer named Kevin Gilbertson in 2002. There are some real life applications for this service: by having shorter web addresses, people can share resources because the web address is easier to remember and to write down.
In the world of education within the school setting, teachers and students can use this service to meet their needs as well. Teachers may refer to a source they found online and may suggest it to students, so it's important to have shortened addresses for students to copy down quickly so they may utilize them for assignments and projects.
