Blogging is a unique and creative form of communication for students and teachers, but especially for students. With the rise in MySpace and other related accounts, kids are highly skilled with this form of expression and frequently use them to communicate with one another. While the old fashioned way to journal with paper and pen out the window, and an increase of online users, it only seems natural to keep up with the flow of technology and learn to embrace the pros and utilize the skills to help develop the students' toolbox for their future endeavors.
Blogging applications for teachers:
1. Organize students' progress, records, attendance sheets, etc., to eliminate as much paperwork as possible
2. Cater activities to students by using a form of technology that they are used to already
3. Teach new software and program designs to facilitate with group projects and collaboration
4. May give immediate feedback to students on assignments outside of school hours
5. Students may discuss about assignments with one another and gain different perspectives that may have not been shared during class time
6. Stir up interest in some students that may have different learning styles
Nice variety of potential uses of blogging to improve teaching and enhance student learning.
